My name is Alex, and I’m the creator and founder of Bread and Breakfast! I started this blog as a way to connect with people through food – specifically bread, breakfast, and baking.
I’ve always had a love of baking, and I can’t even remember exactly when it started. I enjoyed baking cookies with my parents growing up, and both of my parents enjoy baking, but I think I realized I wanted to take it to another level while I was in college.
I went to school at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA (go Loggers!), and I had an incredible time there (shoutout to Pi Phi – I cannot help doing this!), but I realized I really wanted to go into baking and pastry around my junior year. It was instilled in me to finish college, and I’m very glad I have a traditional degree as well, but once I graduated, I went straight into Pastry School.
I moved back home to Orange County, CA, and moved in with my high school sweetheart (we started dating at ages 16 and 17 and have been together since!). I commuted to Pasadena to Le Cordon Bleu for school, while Bryan worked in Newport Beach. It was a super busy time, but I wouldn’t change a thing – I LOVE pastry school! Absolutely incredible!
Since before graduation, I worked in bakeries, cake shops, hotels, and many different places – honing in on different skills at each job. Bryan and I got married shortly after I graduated Pastry School, and we’ve lived in Orange County, Boston, Hong Kong, and back in Orange County since then!
In 2017, we welcomed our son into the world, and we couldn’t feel luckier to have him! I now work part-time, blog part-time, and I’m a full-time stay at home mom. I love all of my jobs, but our son is #1!
With that said, I absolutely love baking and creating new recipes and ideas to share. I wanted to launch and continue this blog as a place for others to find recipes they can make from home and feel good about. The hope is that the recipes are easy to follow and leave you feeling good about yourself for making something delicious (and pretty)!

Happy Baking!
